I will never forget the moment I saw a live simultaneous interpreter for the first time in my life. I was in high school and watched in absolute awe. Sitting inside a glass booth with huge headphones on, a woman was instantly translating French sentences into Turkish. To me, she was not just an ordinary woman, she had to be a superhero.

My interest in foreign languages and the way I started mimicking different accents might go back to when I was just five or six years old. Unfortunately, professions like language teaching or interpreting were seen by both my school and my family as fields below my skills and talents, things that should only be done as a hobby, and I was not allowed to pursue them.

But I did not give up. I walked the path I needed to walk and jumped over the hurdles I needed to clear to become someone who could do what I so deeply admired. I wish the exact same for you.

My interpreting journey

Written translation is a line of work I have been actively pursuing since my university years. After winning third place in the Young Translators Contest organized by the Ministry of European Union Affairs, I completed an internship as a translator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2015.

Since I was already part of the freelance translator pools of various translation companies even before graduating, I gained specialized expertise particularly in the translation of websites and various marketing texts.

In 2016, while giving group lessons at a foreign language course called Address Education, I also organized classes within the institute to help officers at the Air Training Command improve their English speaking skills, and worked with people of all ages and professions from ages 5 to 55 in private lessons.

In 2019, I actively started working as a simultaneous interpreter. I have been providing and continue to provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation for various conferences, security summits, technical training meetings, research groups run by marketing agencies, and in-depth interviews.

Also in 2019, I turned my attention to book translations. I have translated books on topics I am already passionate about and in which I have expanded my knowledge through coaching training, such as personal development, psychology, leadership, and communication.
